Georgia HOSA is pleased to announce our first HOSA hero of the 2016-2017 school year in the month of July, Avery Gordon! Avery is going into her third of year of being a dedicated HOSA member and joined her freshmen year in highschool. Avery attended the 40th annual International Leadership Conference (ILC) and served Georgia HOSA as a voting delegate for the second year in a row.
While Avery is unsure of which healthcare pathway she wants to pursue, she does know that through HOSA, she is confident in looking at different competitive events and professional symposiums to find out exactly what she will do. All she currently knows is that she wants to help people somehow. She describes her HOSA experience as a learning experience by toning her knowledge of professions and honing her leadership skills. When asked to describe HOSA in one sentence she said: “HOSA is awe-inspiring and exciting; It has so much to offer to anyone with a passion for helping others.”
Avery is an upcoming Junior and already plans to continue her final two years-like she did the first two- in HOSA! She loves being able to experience our best events such as State and International Leadership Conference and getting to meet and network with professionals, as well as her fellow members. Avery lives by the quote, “We are what we think. All that we are arises with our thoughts. With our thoughts, we make the world.” Through Avery’s thought, she helped our State Executive Council select the past two teams of National Officers who have and will lead HOSA.
Congratulations Avery, on becoming the month of July’s HOSA hero! We look forward to working with your chapter this year....
