Chapter Spotlight: HCHS HOSA Serves at BCA Luncheon
The Columbus Piedmont Regional Health Foundation held its Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Luncheon, on October 4th, at the Columbus Iron Works and Trade Center. Harris County High School (HCHS) HOSA was thrilled to be invited to serve at the “in-person” luncheon. Everyone was so excited to finally be together after the last two years 2 years, and support such a meaningful cause for our community.
The theme this year was “Cancer Busters” and the guest speaker, Susan Sparks made a fantastic entrance, dressed in a costume as the awful “cancer slime,” and was chased by The Foundation- Cancer busting members! Approximately 1,000 were in attendance from the Columbus community; including breast cancer survivors, support groups, health care professionals, and many generous benefactors.
14 Members of HCHS HOSA, were wonderful servant leaders as they graciously did anything and everything they were asked. Members of the CRH Foundation commented on social media, “Y’all were such a huge help! One of the ladies said this might have been the best group ever!” and “These students were rock stars today!! Please tell them how awesome I think they are!”
As the advisor of these students, I am extremely proud of how they represented my program, Harris County and Georgia HOSA! These students are truly the Future Health Professionals and I know our community will continue to be enriched because of their commitment and service.
