Chapter Spotlight: Richmond Hill High School
Richmond Hill High School HOSA has dedicated hours of time and research to their “Sew Much to Research” project. HOSA students are replicating a study conducted by Duke University measuring the effectiveness of homemade fabric combinations to filter out potentially infectious particles. The students designed, sewed, and tested their own masks.
Once completed this project will be used yearly as an infection control experiment for Healthcare Science classes. Testing stations will also be set up as a part of community outreach to educate the community on mask type effectiveness. HOSA advisor T. Joy Roberts, and Healthcare Science teacher Mary Jo Fina applied for and received the “Bright Ideas” Grant to fund this project.
