Calhoun High School Community Service
Calhoun High School HOSA began a $5.00 gift card fundraiser for the Healing hands Clinic of Gordon County in the Fall of 2020. The Healing Hands Clinic is a non-profit, free medical clinic in Gordon County, under the auspices of the Georgia Department of Public Health. Volunteer Doctors, Nurse Practitioners, RNs and support staff provide primary care, diagnostic testing, medications, counseling, and more. The $5.00 gift cards are given to clinic patients at the discretion of managers to purchase prescriptions, gasoline, and groceries. CHS HOSA donated 50 $5.00 gift cards to this very important service in Calhoun, GA.
Calhoun High School HOSA in conjunction with Blood Assurance also conducted 2 Blood Drives during the 2020-2021 school year. On September 30, 2020, 57 CHS students participated in the drive. 57 units were collected and 153 lives save. On January 27, 2021, 90 CHS students participated. 80 units were collected and 219 lives saved!
CHS HOSA also donated over 1,000 stuffed animals to The Bears for Brittany stuffed animal drive. The new, stuffed animals were then distributed to AdventHealth/Gordon Hospital, Calhoun Police and Fire Departments. These agencies then provided the animals to children in crisis situations.
CHS HOSA adopted a family for Christmas for the Voluntary Action Center in Calhoun, GA. The children, ages 11, 14, and 17, received toys, games, room decorations, shoes, clothing and coats. All compliments of CHS HOSA members!
