Chapter Spotlight: Chattahoochee High School Student Aditi Mohan

Chattahoochee High School junior Aditi Mohan is a student leader who has already taken great steps into the healthcare field. At this year’s HOSA State Leadership Conference, Aditi placed 1st in the event Medical Terminology. She is dedicated HOSA member who participates in many chapter meetings and events as well. During this pandemic, Aditi has made a great effort to help healthcare professionals by launching her ear saver campaign. Last year, she read an article on how workers in the medical field felt great pain and pressure on their ears since they had to wear masks for long hours every day. Wanting to make a difference, she crocheted around 400 ear savers and distributed them to Emory hospitals, Northside hospital, and some small clinics.

Additionally, Aditi is part of Girl Scouts and recently earned her Gold Award. For her Gold Award project, she brought nutritional awareness to rural areas in India. When visiting India, Aditi realized that many people in rural areas were not eating healthily as they did not have enough knowledge on proper nutrition. To address this issue, she held multiple workshops (two in India and a few in Georgia) where she educated people on basic nutrition. Additionally, Aditi taught them how to read nutrition labels and how to eat healthily on a budget. To make her project sustainable, she partnered with a nonprofit organization called Hamara Sahyog and the organization continues to distribute meals to those in need in India. From 2019 to now, a total of 2700 meals have been given out and many more will be donated in the future.

In the future, Aditi hopes to spread further awareness on proper nutrition among other populations. She wishes for people to understand how important it is to eat right and will continue to work towards her goals.
