Chapter Spotlight: Health Awareness

Tift County High School HOSA students have recently started an elementary school health awareness engagement event. Recently, TCHS HOSA went to local elementary school, JT Reddick, for their November Health Awareness!! The high school students taught 4th graders about diabetes symptoms, risk factors, prevention, and treatment. Activities included: Facts about diabetes Fact or fiction games about signs and symptoms with diabetes How much sugar content is in their favorite snacks Reading a nutrition label Interactive game of bean bag toss that showed the students how a bad diet can lead to insulin resistance. Previous topics included: Lung Health and Drug Awareness. The high school students will return in January to be teaching about infection prevention!
